Local MP announces landmark survey on e-scooter trial in Milton Keynes ahead of “Scooter Summit” with operators and local councils
Chris Curtis, Member of Parliament for Milton Keynes North, has today launched a survey for constituents in Milton Keynes North to share their experiences with the ongoing e-scooter trial across the city ahead of his “Scooter Summit” with operators and local councils.
In conjunction with operators Lime and Dott, e-scooters have been trialled across Milton Keynes since 2020. Whilst privately-owned scooters remain illegal, the trial has meant e-scooters are available across the city and journeys can stop and start from parking zones in residential areas.
When used appropriately, micromobility measures like these can be highly effective in helping residents get around the city. However, concerns have persistently been raised around their use, including irresponsible and anti-social parking.
The e-scooter trial came as part of an initiative from the Department for Transport, and the Member of Parliament has announced his intention to collect views from local residents to feed back to the Government.
Chris Curtis MP announced his plans for a “Scooter Summit” next week, which would bring together the Member of Parliament, scooter operators, Milton Keynes City Council, northern parish councils, and Thames Valley Police to robustly discuss the trial.

E-scooters provide an important alternative way to get around our city, but we must work to ensure that schemes to help one group get around the city don’t come at the expense of another. I’ve organised a scooter summit between the councils in my constituency, the police, and the operators. I have also launched a survey so that anybody who lives in Milton Keynes North can share their views. Micromobility is a real opportunity for Milton Keynes, but it has to work for all our communities.
